Happy Fabric Palette Friday! This week is a return to solids. This bundle found its way into my cart when I perusing Cottoneer Fabrics one day. I wasn’t even trying to put anything specific together and was trying to flesh out my solids collection with some new Art Gallery colors that I just loved. But when I saw them side by side in the cart, I knew they were destined to be together in a quilt.

Today, I’m so excited to share a new tutorial with you over on the Havel’s Sewing blog! After making the Halloween BOO! Blocks pattern, I couldn’t resist adding on to it for more holiday fun. So meet the Christmas Cheer Blocks! With the simple addition of “H,” “J,” and “Y” blocks to the “O” in the original pattern, you’re all set for the holidays with blocks that can spell out “HoHoHo” and “Joy.”

Happy Fabric Palette Friday! Over the last few weeks, I’ve been working on an upcoming pattern that I’m really excited about (and hope you will be too!). I finished mocking up the cover quilt in this cheery palette, which was just what I needed on a gloomy day like the one we’re having here today. I hope it’s lovely and sunny where you are. Happy Fabric Palette Friday! If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen yesterday’s post about my Hexie Tiles quilt not getting into QuiltCon this year. I was pretty bummed to get the rejection letter but also not terribly surprised. It’s a relatively simple quilt, and they received the most entries they ever had, so the odds weren’t in my favor. Still, it would have been nice to see it hanging in Phoenix. So it only seemed appropriate to share the fabric pull for Hexie Tiles for today’s palette!

With Thanksgiving in the rearview mirror, it’s officially time to turn our sights toward holiday gift giving. I suspect many of you snagged some gift cards over the Black Friday shopping madness, so I wanted to remind you about this fun tutorial for felt gift card envelopes that I did for the Havel's Sewing blog.

For today’s Fabric Palette Friday, I wanted to stick with the fall colors for just a little bit longer. I pulled these fabrics a few weeks back for a planned Folded in Love quilt, and though I ended up taking a different course for that quilt, I really loved this pull all the same. This was a good example of shopping my stash, as some of these fabrics are quite old. So while it may not be one you can replicate exactly, it’s a great inspiration for a feel and color palette.

One of my favorite things about my quilty social media is seeing the posts where people share pictures of their latest fabric pull, whether they have a specific quilt in mind for it or not. They’re not only lovely to look at, but they’re also inspirational. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve liked a post and then wanted to immediately run to my stash to see if I could pull something similar. With inspiration in mind, today I’m sharing my first Fabric Palette Friday post!

Hi again! Just wanted to pop in to make sure you saw the blog post that went up on the Modern Service Quilts blog this week with all the info on the Folded in Love sample quilts we made for this month. It provides a lot of fabulous eye candy and inspiration if you’re looking to make your own service-quilt version of the pattern.

I want to begin by saying “thank you!” to the supporters who’ve already purchased a copy of the Folded in Love pattern. It means so much to know that people like the design and want to make one of their own. I hope you’ll continue to be excited about the other patterns I have planned for the coming months. Now, let’s get to the pretty stuff, shall we? I and a few friends ended up making 10 samples of the Folded in Love quilt during testing, so how about we dig down into the baby ones today. These three were all made by me and really show off the versatility of the pattern.

After months of work, countless test sample quilts (no, not countless, 10), and a whole bunch of tweaking (because I can’t leave well enough alone), I am thrilled to finally introduce my first quilt pattern, Folded in Love.

It’s been a long time coming, and I’m so pleased to finally welcome you all to my new creative venture, Blue Sky Modern Craft! Blue Sky is the new home for both my quilt-pattern technical-editing services and my own quilt patterns, which will be growing steadily in the coming months.
