A Warm Hello to the Spring Chicken Pattern!
Spring is finally here, and I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to throw open the windows (after I take my allergy medicine, of course) and switch out all those dark winter colors for something light and bright. And as much as I love the coasters I made from my Lotta Love Blocks tutorial, I knew it was time to swap them out for something more seasonal, too. So bring on the Easter eggs and say hello to the new (and FREE) Spring Chicken Pattern!
The Spring Chicken blocks and coaster pattern is designed for foundation paper piecing (FPP) and includes FPP templates for four unique egg blocks, plus instructions for turning your pieced blocks into adorable coasters that finish at 6” tall, perfect for sprucing up your coffee table each spring. Of course, you can use these blocks in lots of other spring-y projects as well. I can’t wait to see yours!
For my coasters, I used a beautiful array of woven fabrics in the most delightful spring colors. Most of them are Wildflower Wovens by Suzy Quilts, with a few Fableism and Essex yarn-dyed wovens thrown in for additional color and texture. Aren’t they beautiful??
The pieced sections in these blocks are decently small, so it’s the perfect time to dive into your scraps. And while the pieces may be small, they’re all very simple shapes, so if you’re new to FPP, don’t let it scare you! Plus, with the method used in the coaster instructions, you don’t have to worry about piecing any curves!
