Fabric Palette Friday #25: Tea Party

Happy Fabric Palette Friday! This week’s palette is just plain sweet, and I’m all here for it. Rifle Paper Co. creates the best inspiration prints because they frequently have unique color schemes, they include a lot of colors (more to pull from!), and the print scale is often small, which means the inspiration print itself is easier to incorporate in the final product (large-scale prints have their place, of course, but they’re harder to use — and really take advantage of — in many quilts). This time, I started with the Rifle Paper Co. tea-party print from their Alice in Wonderland-inspired collection.

Just look at the color options to pull from in this one print: navy, cobalt blue, powder blue, fuchsia, ballet pink, coral, red-orange, sage green, white, olive, aqua, teal, and red. Heck, I’m probably even missing some. And the great thing is that you don’t have to try to pull out every single color (in fact, doing so would likely just muddy the waters), but it gives you a very large range to choose from and decide which direction you’d like to head. Imagine how different (and fun) a bundle could be with the same inspiration print but combined with cobalt blues and red-orange prints!

I stuck with some of the brighter, more summery colors, including many drawn from several Cotton + Steel Basics lines because they coordinate so well. Lots of prints, both small and medium scale, in a range of hues, and you’ve got yourself a bundle fit for any tea (ahem, quilt) party.
