Mini Scrappy Handmade Pincushions
One of the things I love most about sewing is the combination of function and aesthetics. Every sewist needs a pincushion (or five), but there's no reason they can't be just as cute as the items you make with the needles they hold. These precious mini pinnies will give you all the functionality you need in a pincushion with all the cuteness you want. As part of my efforts to limit the waste created by my quilting business, these pincushions were created using scraps from my pattern cover and test quilts. Each pincushion is backed with Essex yarn-dyed linen.
Pincushions are filled with a mix of crushed walnut shells and tiny batting and fabric scraps. They are sewn closed by hand for an invisible closure.
Larger rectangular pincushions measure 2.5" x 4.5"; square ones measure 3.5” square. The smaller half-square triangle pincushion measures 2" x 3". They're the perfect size to sit next to your machine or on the arm of your couch for some hand sewing. They also fit nicely in travel sewing kits.
