A Maker’s Heart Valentine

The smallest block from the Maker’s Heart block pattern can be used in any number of applications, from pincushions to zipper pouches to sampler quilts. I’ve got plans to make a whole wall hanging of these minis. But with a certain heart-filled holiday just around the corner, I thought I’d pop one onto the front of a card for a sweet handmade Valentine.

To make your own, just use the 3” template in the pattern. I switched the color and background fabric placement so the color would create a “border” for the block, setting it apart from the white card. Then, remove the papers from the back of the block. Next, I added a few small dabs of glue to secure it to the front of a blank card (I like these) and then stitched around the edge in a matching thread to finish it off. Add a sweet note, and you’re done!

The pattern, which also includes two larger templates and instructions for turning them into pincushions, is available in the shop!⁣
