Fabric Palette Friday #28: Purple Jungle
Happy Fabric Palette Friday! I can’t believe I haven’t posted one of these since **checks notes** last May. Sigh. But after I posted the reveal of Emaline, my newest quilt pattern, a few days ago, I couldn’t help but highlight the fabric palette I used for it because it’s just too good.
When I submitted the design for the Emaline quilt to Make Modern magazine, I included six different mockups in a variety of colors for them to choose from. They chose the one below, and I set to work pulling from my Robert Kaufman Kona Cotton color cards to find the best matches. But this turned out to be one of those times where the cards can only take you so far.
After ordering several purples and greens I thought would work, I was disappointed in the lack of contrast among some of them, so I reached out to Kristina at Fabric Bubb, who's always happy to help pull options in real life to help you find the perfect match. And boy did we!
I ended up using Robert Kaufman Kona Cotton solids in Ballerina, Sage, Teal Blue, Dusty Blue, Willow, Gumdrop, and Snow (Fabric Bubb is also so helpful in their labeling of solids!).
I simply adore this unique color combo. It's bright, happy, and just a little unexpected, especially with that pop of jungle green in there. And look how great they came together in Emaline!
I even doubled down with my binding threads. :)
The moral of the story: if you can't find solids locally and are unsure of a match, find a good online fabric store who can help you! I can't recommend Fabric Bubb enough (no compensation here; just love).
Leave a comment and let me know what colors you’re working with this week. Are you a fellow solids lover? Have a favorite online fabric shop with great customer service that you’d like to shout out in the comments? Go for it!
