Fabric Palette Friday #11: Pottery Inspired

Happy Fabric Palette Friday! Today’s palette is a lesson in building on an inspiration fabric or color. I am a huge fan of this fabulous blue-gray color that’s been very popular in fabrics the last few years, showing up most notably in many Ruby Star Society collections. I couldn’t resist picking up several of the pottery-themed prints in this colorway from Alexia Marcella Abegg’s new Vessel collection, but I didn’t feel the need to grab the entire collection. I really just wanted those blues. So what to do next?

Start pulling from my stash, of course! If we look at the color wheel, we know blue works fabulously with orange-yellows. In this case, with the gray undertone of the blue, it jives especially well with leather browns, mustard and curry yellows, and tan and cream neutrals, so I grabbed a variety of choices from my collection, looking to also pull in a range of textures, as well as print scales. Now, it’s time to dream up what this could be. Doesn’t this look like a quilt you’d love to snuggle under while drinking cocoa around a campfire?
